01/04/08  SGS-CEBEC launches a new website about electrical safety
SGS-CEBEC's new website www.cebec.sgs.com/consommateurs is now on-line. With this site, accessible in French and Dutch languages, SGS-CEBEC wants to provide Belgian consumers with extensive information and advice for the safe use of electrical products.
25/07/07  SGS-CEBEC to exhibit at ECL fair in Brussels
At the coming ECL fair that will take place at Brussels expo on September 19 and 20, SGS-CEBEC will offer live RoHS compliance checks. These will be made with SGS-CEBEC's high tech XRF analysers.

Within the CB-Scheme, CEBEC now expands its services to include testing and certification of electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use (IEC61010) and hand-held motor-operated electric tools (IEC60745)
14/02/07  Validity dates of norms applicable to household appliances
Norms applicable to household appliances have been revised. For manufacturers, deadlines have been set by when they shall get new certificates for their products. SGS-CEBEC has built a list of all current EN 60335 norms with their validity dates.

Besides a full certification, our customers can now request specific tests, like IP-testing, materials testing and pre-compliance testing of products in development.

The new SGS-CEBEC mark for Electrical & Electronics certifies compliance with the highest international safety and quality standards. As for the other SGS marks, it enjoys worldwide recognition, a major asset for manufacturers as well as importers.
09/03/04  Electrical equipment prohibited from the market
The Belgian Official Journal of 9 March 2004 published two lists of electrical equipment prohibited from the market. One concerns 111 devices not complying with the "Low voltage" Directive - LVD: 73/23/EEC. The other concerns 27 products not complying with the EMC Directive - 89/336/EEC.

On 6 February 2004, the European Commission issued the version 5 of the draft revision of the "Low Voltage Directive" (LVD) - 73/23/EEC.

The General Product Safety Directive - GPSD - (2001/95/EC) has established the legal basis for the Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products - RAPEX.
27/02/04  Managing the risks of active implantable medical devices
The Official Journal of the European Union of 18 February 2004 publishes the reference to the standard EN ISO 14971:2000/AC:2002 Medical devices - Application of risk management to medical devices in the framework of the Directive 90/385/EEC on active implantable medical devices.
