General
The Keymark is the common CEN/CENELEC European Mark, granted to the household and similar electrical appliances, complying with the relevant European standards, on the basis of third-party certification.

Procedure
The process to be followed for the Keymark certification requires:
- Approval of the manufacturer:
The factory is carefully examined by the inspectors: it must be ensured that the staff and the equipment are suitable to guarantee and control the product quality. Only approved manufacturers are admitted to:
- Approval of a given model of appliance:
On every product for which the manufacturer requests the Keymark the certification body performs the necessary test in its laboratories. The manufacturer is entitled to use the Keymark only if the product passes the tests.
- Production control:
The manufacturer entitled to use the Keymark must give a written undertaking that the quality will be maintained and that control tests will be carried out on a regular basis. The certification body verifies that the tests are performed and, for the safety's sake, repeats the tests in its laboratories on samples randomly collected from the production line or from the market.
